How it all began....

After school one day the children and I went to the local shopping center.  We passed the pet shop and guess what - yep!  They had Chow Chow puppies. Who can resist a Chow Chow puppy?

That is Raffles - the matriarch of our Chow Chow family came into our lives - a black Chow girlie.  She gave us an insight into what Chow life was all about - creeping into our hearts gently and before long, this darling little ball of fluff had changed my whole perspective of where a dog's place is.  That's right Raffles slept in our bedroom till the day she passed over the rainbow bridge and on the nights I worked (as a midwife) she kept my husband company on our bed and took up residence on the couch.

“Bella” Bear

Shortly after that the children spotted another ball of fluff in the pet shop – this time it was a red girlie who stole our hearts – Bella” Bear – she preferred to sleep outside but had the full run of our home and hearts.

Reggie

A couple of years later we adopted a 4 year old red male chow by the name of “Reggie” – so you can see - the Harvey household was now well and truly owned by Chows.

In 1999 Reggie passed over the rainbow bridge very suddenly – I was inconsolable – Dave my husband searched the Internet and discovered a wonderful chow breeder by the name of Vanessa from Kimekai Chow Chows.  It just so happened that she had her 1st litter of chow babies at the time and my husband was put through an extremely rigorous telephonic interview to see if we were fit parents for her darling babies.  We were told that she would get back to us in due course.
